perks and mini (p.A.M.)

Perks And Mini, abbreviated to P.A.M., founded in Melbourne, Australia, is a fashion and lifestyle cult brand, created by Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey. Established in 2000 P.A.M.’s products are sold and exhibited internationally. An extensively collaborative and multi-disciplinary art and design approach involving artists, fashion labels and stores around the world has largely contributed to P.A.M. becoming internationally recognised.

Inspired by the 90s Comme des Garçons Six magazines, Perks And Mini set out to create a time document, a real window on Utopia for the exhibition Faisons de l’inconnu un allié. It is a compendium of (alternate) reality, psychedelics, spirituality, paganism, folk customs, esotericism, connection to the land, and the need to produce hope for the future, ideals which resonate with concepts of a type of life or reality. The magazine that comes in two volumes UTOP/A / and UTOP/A // is a curated collection of images and text by the likes of Jonas Mekas, Axel Hoeldt, Peter Sutherland and Jason Fulford. The publication will be distributed during the exhibit Faisons de l’inconnu un allié, and during Paris Fashion Week, as well as through independent Parisian bookstores such as Yvon Lambert, OFR, Colette, Comptoir de l’image, or even Donlon Books in London.

P.A.M. has also produced a new film for the occasion of the exhibition and worked closely with fashion photographer and filmmaker Camille Vivier. The film is about fabric and it’s play with the environment. It is accompanied by a soundtrack composed by P.A.M. collaborator, Lee Gamble. For P.A.M., the fabric acts as a cocoon and transcends from stone to life, and back again.

UTOP/A / was launched at Hub Lafayette Anticipation on June 23rd, 2016, during Paris Fashion Week.
UTOP/A // will be launched Friday, September 30, 2016 Paris Fashion Week.
